Having a qualified, reliable and committed team is a key factor for staying successful as a company. Just like continuously successful sports teams are proud of their “new signings”, we are proud of ours and would like to briefly introduce our new team members to you.
Dr. Pedro M. R. Reis and Dipl.-Ing. Carlos Cruz, both joined our Technical Support team as Scientific Consultants in March 2017. As such they will help you with words and deeds in terms of technical questions on the handling and usage of our products and solutions. Additionally, Pedro and Carlos – just like the whole Technical Support team – are also available to advise on scientific issues like optimal experimental setup and solution oriented problem solving.
Pedro did his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2008. From there he went to Exeter University (United Kingdom) to do his Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine (dissertation title: Acute Effects of Exercise Mode and Volume on Blood Pressure in Stroke Patients). Until February 2017 Pedro carried out his PhD in Exercise Neuroscience at the University of Erlangen (Germany). In his PhD thesis he focused on Methods in Pharmaco-Mobile Brain/Body Imaging for Neuromuscular Disorders. Working as a PI and research group leader, he and his colleagues mainly focused on the development of multimodal methodology for recording and analysis of EEG during movement: Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBi), with simultaneous EMG and motion capture methods. Additionally, other projects that Pedro was involved in dealt with investigating the influence of exercise on medicaments pharmaco-kinetics and its Pharmaco-EEG effects, as well as developing a fast, reliable and accurate method for localisation of EEG electrodes with the purpose of improving results in source localisation.
Carlos obtained a five-year-degree as a Telecommunication Engineer (specialized in Medical Technologies) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2012. He then moved on to the Technical University of Munich where he did, in collaboration with the Klinikum Rechs der Isar and Helmholtz Zentrum München, his master thesis in Electrical Engineering developing an automated serial sectioning and multispectral optical imaging system for validation of tissue fluorescent markers. Following his university career, Carlos decided to take on a new professional challenge in the private sector in 2013. Among others he has been with Helmholtz Zentrum Munich for 2 years. During this time he was involved in developing and researching innovative optical imaging devices for recording brain activity in high resolution and real time 3D. Most recently Carlos was working for about a year as a system development engineer (Medical Devices & Healthcare) at Helbling Technik GmbH in Munich (Germany).
Being a successful company with a growing number of products and users also comes along with a lot of shipping and logistics issues that need to be taken care of. To support our well established logistics team, Angelo Baiata, has joined us in early 2017. Alongside his colleagues he is not only in charge of commissioning, packing and shipping equipment out. Additionally, he as well as the rest of the team are in charge of e.g. organizing our stocks, the receiving of all incoming shipments, the configuration and compilation of systems, validity checks, and much more.
Angelo is a trained car mechanic and has worked as an industrial mechanic at various companies in his early career. Since 2011 he has shifted his professional focus working mainly in the fields of incoming goods inspection and testing as well as, as a quality inspector.
Again, welcome to the team, Angelo!
R&D – Production
Last but not least and most recently, Reimund Maurerer started working at Brain Products and is strengthening our Production team.
Reimund is a trained car mechanic and has gathered plenty of experience as a service technician over the past years.
Besides supporting our Production team in all tasks related to assembling products and related components, he is also involved in the thorough testing process that components and products manufactured by Brain Products undergo.
Although some of the above are rarely in direct contact with you – our customers and distributors – they all contribute equally to making Brain Products what it is and what it stands for and we are proud to have them on board!
