Who is who…?! – New team members at Brain Products

by Stefanie Rudrich
Marketing Manager (Brain Products)

Having a qualified, reliable and committed team is a key factor for staying successful as a company. Just like continuously successful sports teams are proud of their “new signings”, we are proud of ours and would like to briefly introduce our newest team members to you.

Technical Support: Dr. Lena Schmüser

Dr. Lena Schmüser just joined our Technical Support team as a Scientific Consultant some weeks ago. As such she will help you with words and deeds in terms of technical questions on the handling and usage of our products and solutions. Additionally, Lena and the Technical Support team are also available to advise on scientific issues like optimal experimental setup.

Lena studied Biology (major: Neurobiology and Behavioral Physiology) at Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg (Germany). In her diploma thesis she focused on “EEG correlates of impulse control assessed by simultaneous measurement of EEG and fMRI”. After obtaining her diploma, she continued as a doctorate student at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany), Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. There her research centered on the field of “translational neuroscience” in general and more specifically “temporally high-resolved analysis of the neural response inhibition network in healthy controls and psychiatric disorders” as well as “the development of a data-driven single-trial EEG/fMRI data analysis approach” in particular.

After finishing her doctoral thesis at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany), Lena decided to take on a new professional challenge in the private sector and joined Brain Products in early 2017.

Being a skilled researcher and an experienced user of Brain Products equipment, we are happy to have Lena on board!

R&D - Software Development: Dr. David Medine

Dr. David Medine joined the Brain Products’ R&D team as a Software Developer in January 2017. He will mainly support the further development of our BrainVision Recorder software and making Brain Products hardware compatible with “Lab Streaming Layer” (LSL). In addition, he will take over software projects related to national and international R&D Projects, Brain Products is involved in.

Before starting at Brain Products, David was with the Department of Music at the University of California, San Diego (USA). There he also obtained his Ph.D. in computer music in 2016 (dissertation title: “Unsampled Digtital Synthesis and the Context of Timelab”).

From 2014 through 2016 David was also working as a Laboratory Engineer at the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience (University of California, San Diego). As such he developed software (C/C++, Python, MATLAB®) for laboratory operations, especially for the purposes of synchronizing data streams in EEG experiments. Well-known examples of his work are LabStreamingLayer (LSL) to which he has made contributions and at times maintained or Timelab (a CAPI for real-time audio programming). However, there are many more software projects authored and maintained by David.

Great to have you on board as well, David!

Operative Marketing: Olga Nusser

Olga Nusser had been a valuable pillar of the Brain Products Marketing department from 2010 onwards. In 2015 she took some time off to thoroughly dedicate herself to her family and newborn son.

Now, 1.5 years later, Olga just returned part-time as “Assistant Marketing Manager”. As such, she will be in charge of all trademark related issues and support our Operative Marketing team in its daily business and projects.

We are happy to have you back, Olga!
