Brain Products has been granted European patent for dry electrodes and Utility Model for fMRI compatible electrodes

by Alexander Svojanovsky
General Manager (Brain Products)

As for the US patents mentioned in Issue 01/2014, Brain Products is proud to have received the official confirmation for the European patent EP 2474263 B1 (dry electrode for detecting EEG signals and attaching device for holding the dry electrode) as well as for the Utility Model 202011104334.0 (EEG electrode with an indicator to improve safety in EEG recordings particularly during scanning by means of an imaging procedure).

Dry electrode for detecting EEG signals and attaching device for holding the dry electrode

  • European Patent: EP 2474263 B1
  • Inventors: Svojanovsky, Alexander; Picht, Bernd
  • Assignee: Brain Products GmbH
  • Filed: March 24, 2010

The respective US patent has been described here. Brain Products is proud to hold the industrial property rights for dry electrode technology in selected European countries as well.

EEG electrode with an indicator to improve safety in EEG recordings particularly during scanning by means of an imaging procedure

  • Utility Model: 202011104334.0
  • Applicant: Brain Products GmbH
  • Filed: August 12, 2011

EEG electrode which is suitable for use as an image pickup by means of an imaging apparatus and is attachable at the head of a subject, comprising:

A sensor for receiving an EEG signal, the EEG when the electrode is attached to the head of the subject, the sensor being in contact with the scalp, an electrical resistor, which is connected to the sensor, a housing, wherein the electric resistor is integrated in the housing and the sensor is held by the housing at least partially, and a temperature element which is mounted at a position adjacent to the sensor inside the housing.

The electrode is in a final testing phase and we are expecting improved safety and traceability during combined EEG & fMRI recordings from this unique Brain Products feature.
