News in brief

Planned end of support for outdated file formats in BrainVision Analyzer

Logo AnalyzerAs part of the modernization of our BrainVision Analyzer software, we are going to stop the support for some outdated special data formats with the next release 2.3.2. This applies most notably to the V-Amp data format with the extension *.ahdr (note that V-Amp amplifiers are no longer supported since the end of 2025) but also the BrainPath (*.bhdr) and the Learning (*.lhdr) data formats.

If you’ve been using these formats, we advise you to

convert those raw data files that still need to be analyzed to the BrainVision Core Data Format (BVCDF, *.vhdr) using Analyzer versions up to 2.3.1.

stop recording any new data in those formats and switch to BVCDF instead.

Reminder on handling actiCAP electrodes

actiCAP slim electrodesA common question our support team gets is how to properly handle actiCAP electrodes and prevent electrode damage. The actiCAP is built in a robust and durable way, so they can serve as your long-term companions. Following a few simple dos and don’ts, you can keep them in great condition and extend their lifespan even further:

Do use our recommended disinfection solutions for electrodes (Perfektan TB or Envirocide) if disinfection is necessary.
Do not disinfect electrodes by soaking them in alcohol or other strong or overdosed disinfection agents.
→ See also our updated disinfection guidelines.

Do hold the electrode head when inserting or removing the actiCAP snap.
Do not pull or bend the electrode cable.
→ See also our tutorial video “How to insert and remove electrodes from your actiCAP slim/snap

Do hold the plug when inserting or removing the actiCAP ground.
Do not bend the plug or pull the cable.
→ See also our tutorial video “How to insert and remove an electrode (binder connector)“.

Last but not least: Test your actiCAP and repair electrodes or flat ribbon cables if necessary, but do not wet the actiCAP splitter box or try to repair a water damage. For more on this, see our actiCAP diagnosis workflow and our tutorial video “How to replace an active electrode (actiCAP)“.

Brain Products recognized for outstanding corporate culture 5 years in a row

After receiving the kununu Top Company award for outstanding corporate culture in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, we are proud to announce that we have once again earned the distinction in 2026.

This award recognizes organizations with exceptionally high employee satisfaction, based on independent reviews. Brain Products received particularly strong ratings in working conditions, workplace atmosphere, work-life balance, diversity and equal opportunities, compensation and benefits, and overall company image.

kununu CEO Nina Zimmermann highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting that only 5% of companies qualify and that earning the award five years in a row is exceptional. The recognition also strengthens employer branding and attracts talent.

We sincerely thank all Brain Products employees whose feedback made this possible. With an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars and a 100% recommendation rate over the past two years, we are proud to remain among the top 5% for the fifth consecutive year.
