Discover the latest updates in BrainVision Analyzer 2.3.2

BrainVision Analyzer 2.3.2 is now available, and we want to guide you through the main updates of the new version. This release features an overhauled New Reference transform, improved license handling, and modernized software components. Additionally, the Solutions package now includes the Standardized Measurement Error Solution.

New Reference
The New Reference transform, designed for offline data re-referencing, has been fully rewritten for the .NET platform to offer an enhanced experience. While all existing options have been retained, the user interface has been elegantly streamlined from three pages to two to simplify your workflow. Furthermore, we have refined the parameter validation for greater reliability and integrated the standardized channel selection control to provide more intuitive options for channel inclusion and exclusion.
You can upgrade to the latest Analyzer version with confidence because all existing history trees or history templates containing older New Reference nodes are fully supported and will continue to work seamlessly. Nonetheless, we recommend replacing nodes created using obsolete modules with the updated ones. The Troubleshooting module (via Add Ins > Diagnostics) can help you easily identify such outdated nodes.
Handling license disconnection
Previously if Analyzer got disconnected from its license (e.g. if the dongle was unplugged by accident or if the connection to a remote network license was disrupted), the interface became blocked and you had to terminate the program via the Windows® Task Manager.
We have now introduced a grace period in case of a failed license check which leaves you with more flexible options. If the license has become available again, you can try reconnecting without having to restart. If that is not possible, you can unlock the interface again for 5 minutes to save work-in-progress (like a template you were just creating) and close the program in a controlled way.
Software modernization
As part of our commitment to future-proof Analyzer, we continuously address outdated components to provide you with a lean, stable and efficient software. In Analyzer 2.3.2, we are taking another step forward by retiring several legacy features and deprecated third-party dependencies.
- Windows® 8.1 has now been removed from the list of supported operating systems
- The ASL Eye-Trac format is no longer supported in the Add Channels transform for simultaneous EEG and eye tracking analysis
- We have removed three outdated special versions of the BrainVision data format. Analyzer will no longer process raw data in the BrainPath, Learning, and V-Amp Data format (with header files ending on .bhdr, .lhdr, or .ahdr, respectively)
- The Update Manager utility is now using HTTPS links in order to ensure secure communication
Program version and logo
There are two small things you might notice when you install and start your new Analyzer.
In order to be consistent with our other software, we have dropped the minor version number from the title within the application itself, its shortcuts, and the installer, meaning that they only say BrainVision Analyzer 2 and not 2.3. However, if you need to check for the full version number, you can always look it up under Help > About Analyzer.
Also, as Brain Products just received a freshly updated corporate design, you will certainly spot our new logo in Analyzer as well. However, the appearance of the user interface has been kept unchanged.
Updates to Analyzer Solutions
Managing your Solutions is now more efficient and modern. We have introduced new installers that offer greater flexibility: use the standard executable (.exe) to install all official Solutions at once or utilize dedicated (.msi) installers for individual Solutions.
Featuring an interface consistent with our BrainVision Analyzer 2 installers, this update simplifies how you manage your Solutions directly through Windows® Settings.
To take full advantage of the latest Solutions version, we recommend upgrading to Analyzer 2.3.2 as well. Further details are available in the Solutions Release Notes.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that the Standardized Measurement Error Solution, which was previously available only by request following its introduction in our Issue 2/2025 newsletter, is now included in our official Solutions package and ready for download on our website.
