Self-initiated voluntary acts are preceded by a negative electrical brain potential, the Bereitschaftspotential (BP), occurring up to two seconds before the actual movement. Up to now, the BP has only been recorded under laboratory conditions. Here recording of the BP before self-initiated 192-meter extreme bungee jumping is reported for the first time. Our results pave the way to further investigate the neural substrates and mechanisms underlying real-world decision making and behaviour.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the second MoBI Award! The aim of the MoBI Award is to recognize excellence in the field of Mobile Brain/Body Imaging research. Given that this is such a rapidly growing field, Brain Products wants to encourage scientists who take their research out of the lab and into the real world. During the 3rd International Mobile Brain/Body Imaging Conference in Berlin, Brain Products awarded the first, second and third place winners with LiveAmp 32, LiveAmp 16 and LiveAmp 8 packages (incl. amplifier, electrode cap and recording software), respectively.
The “Brain Products Young Scientist Award” 2018 was handed to Matthias Sperl, M.Sc. for his outstanding publication, titled “Fear extinction recall modulates human frontomedial theta and amygdala activity”, published in Cerebral Cortex; doi: 10.1093/cercor/bhx353.
On May 3, 2018 Dr. Thomas Blacker received the “UCL-CNT Early Career Investigator Award in Neuroimaging Techniques 2017” at University College London (UK). Endowed with prize money of £1000, this award has been presented annually to students and early postdocs at UCL since 2007 and since then has been proudly sponsored by Brain Products.
