20 years of growth: How Brain Vision LLC evolved from a one-person office to a key player in North America

by Judy Lewis (CEO at Brain Vision)
and Edward Lau (Vice President at Brain Vision)

Brain Vision LLCBrain Vision LLC began operating in 2005 as a one-person office in Herndon, Virginia (USA). It was Brain Products’ first fully owned subsidiary and established to help introduce Brain Products’ solutions to researchers across North America. While focusing on EEG-fMRI solutions in its first years, things have changed a lot over time. We grew steadily and played a key role in ensuring that solutions such as actiCAPs and actiCHamps have become standard equipment in many EEG labs across the USA.

Now headquartered in Garner, North Carolina with a team spread out across seven different states and three different timezones, we support more than three thousand labs in the United States as they apply a wide range of neurophysiological tools we distribute. Our sister company, Brain Vision Solutions Inc., has been assisting additional labs in Canada since they assumed the Canadian market from us in 2016; look for a future article to learn more about them soon!

Although Brain Products supplies our core products, we work closely with or exclusively represent more than a dozen manufacturers across a variety of application spaces including:

  • EEG (Brain Products, BESA, CGX, CREMedical, Easycap)

  • fNIRS (Cortivision, Easycap)

  • non-invasive brain stimulation and neuronavigation (Localite, NeuroConn, MagVenture)

  • peripheral physio and actigraphy (CGX, movisens)

  • eye tracking (Tobii Pro, SR Research, VPixx)

  • stimulus delivery hardware and software (Cedrus, Neurobehavioral Systems, PST, SilicoLabs, VPixx)

  • lab accessories (NoMoCo Pillow, Greiner)

and more!

20 years of growth: How Brain Vision LLC evolved from a one-person office to a key player in North America

The Brain Vision Team is spread across seven (7) states and three (3) timezones in the USA but our headquarters are in Garner, North Carolina. Brian the Brain, our mascot seen here re-caffeinating, helps us as we deliver and support neurophysiological research solutions from more than a dozen partners.

The entire Brain Vision Scientific Consulting Team comes from various neurophysiological research labs, so we have similar backgrounds to our customers. This foundation allows us to authentically relate to your challenges and potential struggles, resulting in a more specialized consultation and support for your research.  Collectively, we have more than 80 years of research experience ourselves and more than 70 years of experience distributing and supporting neurophysiological research solutions. Our Executive Leadership Team, Judy Lewis (CEO) and Edward Lau (Vice President) are internal hires who started with Brain Vision more than 14 and 10 years ago as Executive Assistant to the CEO and Scientific Consultant, respectively. As such, they have been involved in shepherding Brain Vision across many different stages of growth with an evolving team and they are familiar with the intricacies involved in the unique neurophysiological research space. With them, Brain Vision continues to follow the same ethos as it has had over the years (provide complete solutions and unbiased consultation), while doing so with a realistic and sustainable approach to ensure that we will be there for our research customers for years to come. The Scientific Consulting Team intentionally does not operate on commission, so you can be sure that our primary motivation is only to recommend the best solution(s) for accomplishing your research, even if that means directing you to a solution that we do not provide ourselves.

We are passionate about science, and our primary goal is to support researchers and advance the field of neuroscience!

If you are based in the United States, have an upcoming project, and want to chat about which solutions could help you best achieve your research goals, then we encourage you to call, send us an email, or book a meeting with one of our consultants at a time convenient to you. Also, check out our upcoming events to see if we’ll be at a conference or workshop in your area.

We look forward to hearing from you!
