Emblem EEG-Brain Stimulation (TMS)Brain Products is proud to offer sync2brain’s bossdevice RESEARCH since 2021. It is truly a solution from researchers for researchers and offers access to a highly advanced methodology by means of actiCHamp Plus and its real-time data output device TurboLink.

Now, sync2brain released the perfect software companion: the bossapp RESEARCH making the solution even more accessible and user friendly for new and existing users.

What is “boss”?

The “boss” in bossdevice and bossapp stands for “Brain Oscillation State Sensor”. It is a real-time digital signal processor consisting of hardware and software algorithms. It is designed to read-in a real-time raw data stream from a bio- signal amplifier (electroencephalography, EEG), to continuously analyze this data and to detect patterns based on oscillations in different frequencies. When such a specific bio-signal pattern is detected, the device indicates this through a standard output port. This enables a connected device to know with millisecond accuracy when a specific bio-signal pattern occurs.

Up to now, bossdevice RESEARCH was controlled by a rich library of MATLAB® functions offering maximum freedom in setting up the phase detection algorithm and for the general control of the device. This API remains available for all bossdevice RESEARCH users and is available on the sync2brain website.

But it just got better…

sync2brain has just released bossapp RESEARCH, a user-friendly, stand-alone GUI application that can be used to operate the bossdevice RESEARCH making this advanced research method more efficient for existing users and creating an easier entry point for new users.

Great variety of features and flexibility in setting up experimental brain state dependent stimulation protocols

The software and its helpful online documentation guide you through all necessary steps and allow you to

  • connect to the device

  • select and configure the input EEG signal

  • add temporal and spatial filters

  • manage artifacts

  • identify individual EEG peak frequencies of the participant

  • select target phases and frequencies

  • setup experimental protocols

  • record data

  • … and more
